I must have seen 8 fights (all between Hokies and other Hokies) on Friday. Had to intervene in two. Didn't matter if they were students or alumni. Sucking = Truculent Turkeys.

One was because of a student not waving to another student. Both were hammered but you know, still common courtesy to acknowledge the presence of your fellow classmate. Student 1 claimed not to even know student 2 and a nice little verbal/pushing kerfuffle broke out. Another instance was a father getting very upset with some other father allowing his kid to throw straight garbage at people. He said and I quote "I get throwing airplanes, but just throwing trash at people. You're a really good person. Happy you're teaching your son that. Really classy" He was consequently bombarded with trash when he left the stadium in the mid-4th quarter.

Yet another good heated exchange was a student putting his feet on some other Hokies fan's (not sure if alumni or just fan's) seat. The alumni we'll call him smacked the students feet off the seat and you can kind of see where that went. Student put his feet back on there and I had to just tell him to take his feet off or to leave, which funny enough, he left when Harris got that touchdown untouched in the 3rd. But not without getting his last bird-flip at the other fan. A lot of passion we these guys. Maybe we should've thrown them on the field? Probably could've retained some of the students by putting on a fighting match between some of these idiots.

This drop in football results has opened my eyes to what our fanbase really is. At one point, I thought we were not fair-weather and that we would be there for our team even when they are at their absolute lowest. But that's just not true. We're no different than any other school with crappy fans that only watch success. I'm now seeing that we're the school that has students that leave early no matter what the score. We're the school that can't sell out every game. We're the school that boos our players off the field. We're the school that throws trash at other fans of the same faction. We're the school that has completely forgotten the farce that as "Hokie Respect". I wonder what Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Clemson fans would've said about their experience in Blacksburg if they were switched with Duke last night. Probably would have said that Lane Stadium was very underwhelming and the fans were garbage.

Duke will get after you. Gotta hand it to their coaching staff and all those guys. We didn't execute, and they did. Plain and simple. On to Miami!
