Virginia Tech is one of those schools that can compete at the highest levels but it takes a while to build up to that level, once we are down.

Beamer and Foster were a lethal combination in their day, and they were ahead of the curve with Defense and Special teams.

Yet it took 7 years to reach the top. 1993 to 1999 seasons.

So What is the magic Hokie formula that they used?
(step 1) Hire a Good Quality Staff that looks for high quality hard working kids.
(step 2) Recruit high quality kids that are willing to work hard.
(Step 3) Quality Staff + Good Hard working Kids = Improved Kids.
(Step 4) Quality Staff + Imroved kids + Maturity = Game Winning Atmosphere
(Step 5) Quality Staff + Game Winning Atmosphere = Improved Recruiting
(Step 6) Quality Staff + Game Winning Atmosphere + Improved Recruting = Championships

I think we are between step 3 and step 4 currently with this staff, but the
wrench in this is that Bud is leaving at the end of the season.

Sooo, find an amazing replacement for Bud, and we should be at step 5 by the end of
2020, and we should be at step 6 at the end of 2021.

Also, I'm okay with Fuente replacing resources on the offensive side, but only if he thinks it is needed genuinely, not by force. I think Fuente needs what he thinks are the right people are under him to make this work and reach the top in 2 years.

So you can see, we are pretty close to where we want to be, but we need a bit more time.
This is why I am so against the rapid tossing out of the whole staff.

Number 1, it's risky (See Tennesse for last decade)
Number 2, starting over takes alot more time.
Number 3, I feel like we are within 2 years of where we want to be.

So lets not start over, let's find a guy to take over for bud, and see where we are in 2020, when the core of our team are Juniors.

My guess is by then we are on track and alot happier!!!
