Like those players weren't already getting paid?

I'm not sure why everyone thinks that people are just going to be handing over massive amounts of money to these players. What do they get in return? Are they getting good business from these payments? If so, then so what? That's the point of the athletes being able to profit from their likeness.

If anything, it could bring a bit of parity to the top schools, especially in basketball. This year, for example, Henry Coleman is the "worst" recruit offered by Duke. He will not have much attention, if any, at Duke unless he proves to be invaluable once on campus and doesn't get overshadowed by the next big thing in 2021. However, he could've been the top dog at VT or NCSt, being the face of that respective team. He would be able to make a lot more money going to a VT or NCSt as top dog, selling his likeness to area businesses vs. #4 recruit at a blue blood.

I don't understand all the worry about shoe companies paying these kids and it getting out of hand. Clearly, they were doing this already. Now we'll just see it all as it will be above the table. If Rick Hendrick wants to give (Insert Name) 5* player at UNC an Escalade in exchange for his likeness, why is that a problem? It's already happening. Businessmen and women aren't just going to all of a sudden lose their minds and starting handing out cash for the fun of it. This cash is coming from a business. It has to be accounted for. And if they are a publicly owned business (Nike, Under Armor, etc) they have to tabulate and answer for that money to someone other than themselves. If they start forking out tens of millions of $$ with no return on investment, some heads will roll at those companies.
