WOW- Concussion research negligence?

EDIT: just saw this came out a week ago. Apologies for pulling said CPU out of proverbial granular silicon and realizing this may have been previously discussed-

Came across an article in the Athletic feed, re: INC- sorry UNC (that actually was an autocorrect error- programmer not a UNC fan)-

Another UNC football scandal! (Gasp). Don’t think I’m allowed to post here bc it’s subscription, but here’s the gist:

Article based on 9 month Athletic article research, titled “Failure to Disclose” (you can read about it on Reddit, too)

“ A nine-month investigation by The Athletic raises troubling questions about abnormally high ADHD rates among [incoming] Tar Heels football players and the failure to disclose that data in concussion research papers coming out of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill's renowned brain injury research center, potentially putting student-athletes' health and safety at risk.”

“At the heart of the 11,000-word paper authored by Tatos and Comrie and evident throughout the reporting done by The Athletic, is the alarming possibility that decades of work on concussion research, data used by the NFL, NCAA schools, and even the Department of Defense, may now be invalid. They found 11 concussion papers that used UNC football players drawn from the same study groups over a nine-year period with abnormally high ADHD rates. But that critical modifying factor was never disclosed in papers that appeared in prominent scientific journals. Ten of those papers were co-authored by Kevin Guskiewicz.”

It looks like the author knowingly or unknowingly used UNC players as study subjects, but it seemed that many of them had previously diagnosed conditions BEFORE the studies and that could have effected research results.

I’d like to hear feedback from VT helmet study team on this one. As is common in politics, who really knows the truth these days in what is being blathered about by news talking heads?
