2020 Expectations

Next season, what has been a young team the past two seasons will be a mature team and the expectations will be high. Mine are 10-2 and a trip to the Orange Bowl.

OFFENSE:
VT returns all starters(depending on whether Hazelton leaves early). McClease may leave, but he was more of a co-starter with King. The RB room will look much different, and bigger,in 2020. VT adds JUCO Lee(225 lbs) and transfer Herbert(200 lbs). Holston(218 lbs) and Gary(221 lbs) return. I expect King to add weight and be up around 200 lbs. The OL adds Hoffman at either Center or OG...a real leader for the OL. Hudson and Nester, who played as true freshmen, will finally have an off season in the weight room to gain strength. All 3 TEs return and all can be good weapons. The WR group will be better/deeper. Former 4*s Payoute and Pinckney as well as high 3* Bowick should be ready to contribute after redshirt years...really good quality depth at WR.

DEFENSE:
VT returns 10 of 11 starters. With their first year in a college strength program coming up,true freshmen Pollard and Kendricks will be able to bulk up more at DT(Hamilton wants bigger DL). DT should be in good shape next season. DEs are more of a question mark. Garbutt needs to bulk up. Belmar is not the answer. Becton has great size, but needs to step up. Hopefully Barno will add weight and get a shot at DE. LBs will be a strength with Ashby,Dax,Tisdale and Artis. CBs will be a strength with Farley and Waller. Safeties are somewhat of a question mark. Deablo has not lived up to his potential. Conner is a very good player. Hunter and/or Walker need to contribute in 2020.

SPECIAL TEAMS:
Bradburn, one of the best punters in the nation in 2019,will be a strength. Johnson at Kicker will be solid.
