WRT changing the mindset of people is there may be mixed messages

floating out. For example, If everyone who complains about the state of the program gave $5 or $10 a month, then it would help but...VT probably wouldn't be closer to competing for national titles or even the Baylors of the world because VT is so far behind the 8-ball.

Also, there is no guarantee on how the Athletic Department will spend the money. People may donate thinking that VT will use the money on football, but VT could end up using it on Women's Tennis for whatever reason. Likewise, if a person make a restricted donation to a particular sport (i.e. football) and VT has already established the budget for football, then there is a possibility VT could move unrestricted funds from the football budget to offset the restricted donation instead of increasing football's budget.

Now a lot of this could be avoided if VT did a better job of communicating to the rest of the Hokie Family. If the Hokie Family is given goals, even fluid ones, then they will have a better idea of how VT plans to use the money.
