You didn't lose your deduction. Everyone receives the newer, nigher level deduction automatically. The only thing you might possibly lose is the desire to donate. You no longer have to donate to charity (or non-profit orgs) to receive your deduction.

Bottom lime: you no longer have to donate to get the deduction...you already have it.
