Part of that revenue increase was caused by success
They started really seeing success on the field during the 2011 season (I think the VT-Clemson game in Lane that season was a game changer for both programs.... and the rematch in Charlotte confirmed that result was not a fluke).
But Dabo's skill at PR, fundraising, and being the face of the program allowed Clemson to fully capitalize on the success they started to have. He built excitement around the program.
This is why we really need to focus on finding someone who has the skills to be an elite HC. Not necessarily the best "prospect" who happens to be a sitting HC and/or put in their time as an assistant. Don't worry so much about football resume. Worry about finding a leader, a visionary, and a closer. This guy (partially due to money we'd save in not "worrying" about a football resume) will go find the best assistants who can worry about the Xs and Os and day to day details of the program.
