There is no way they can know in 3-5 days that actions taken now have had such a tremendous impact that deaths will plummet from 100-200k to what, 40k? That isn't enough time to know that. So something else is at work. Either initial projections were faulty, or something changed ... maybe enough medical care is generally available? Don't know.
