My thoughts-

Way too early to tell who has the right answer, but it’s apples to oranges. There are so many factors that play into a nation’s ability to respond to a threat like this. Economies of scale, population density, and available resources play many different roles in comparing Sweden to the US.

CV has been bad. Undeniably. We lost an immediate member of our family. RIP Bernie!!

Big picture though- as horrible as this was to our country, and how fast it decimates some people, compared to similar flus, the next one could be significantly worse- whatever and whenever that is. Mistakes are always made, because, ultimately, we are human.

Combat sucks. But the military and the nation (hopefully) learn how to improve tactics, protection and process of how to respond to threats to mitigate them to minimize loss of life. I see it every day.

I’m confident that the US- national down to community level will learn from these situations, mourn our losses, and move to fix the problems that resulted from what has happened.

And the sooner the better. Whether or it not this could have ever been intentional, there is now an even great and more obvious possibility to bringing down nation states through the intentional development of threats like CV.
