Of course lives are important. But there needs to be a balance
If we use only your criteria, then by all means we should ban cars and driving, since there are like 40-50,000 auto related deaths per year. We all need to ban smoking because according to the cdc, there are like 480,000 smoking related deaths per year. Not to mention 15- 20,000 Flu deaths per year. We can figure this out as a nation, but deciding a policy based on only one thing is not realistic.
