It’s almost as if you didn’t actually read my post.

See point #1. Good luck finding a championship caliber coach who will come to and stay in Blacksburg. Beamer and Foster were anomalies (even for their era). Different deal today. Too much money gets thrown around and we don’t have enough.

The VT football program is like a high mid-major basketball program. Sure, you might find a Brad Stephens, but eventually the Celtics come calling. We had our Brad Stephens (Beamer) and he didn’t go to the Celtics (Bama, UNC). In fact, we had two. Foster could’ve taken DC jobs at Florida, FSU, UGA, and A&M — but chose to stay. But what about the landscape of college football makes you think VT can attract and retain coaches of that level again? I mean, step outside the VT fandom for a moment and try to be objective. On a list of most desirable jobs in college football, where do you think VT honestly fits. Don’t give the reflexive VT fan answer, actually think for a moment.
