I come to read TSL posts and football related news as a distraction, because I often deal with people dying, or trying to help others stay safe or stay alive.

So I read all of these comments and so many here are just people who don’t know each other outside of a nickname talking trash to each other. ALL of the time. I don’t get it.

I’m frustrated about whatever the peril of the day is too. But everyone is allowed their opinions, last I checked. Why incessantly attack other people for their opinions? We all should know that they are opinions, and everybody’s got one. Not intending to offend here, but please chill the F- out. PLEASE.

I know it’s football, but it’s still just a game. None of us lives or dies because VT may lose a recruit. It sucks that the game might not even be played bc of the “bigger picture”- that thing about some people who will still get sick and die, whether it’s from this flu or the next one.

I also get that a lot of people make significant financial investments, either to support the school or for entertainment purposes. They are not buying wins. They are paying for the chance to get away from news about the sick and dying, losing jobs, bankruptcies, or whatever other issues people deal with every day. No guaranteed outcome other than the time spent being distracted.

Call me crazy, but is all the acid and backbiting really worth your time and energy investment, whether you love or hate this coach or player or whatever? I don’t think so.

I’ve got my own opinions, and I’m always interested in having an actual discussion with others bc I enjoy hearing others’ perspectives, without being insulted or getting shouted down. Why waste my own time if it’s not fun or a worthwhile distraction anymore?

Hope you all have a solid rest of the week and we all take one step closer to overcoming the daily challenges we face outside of TSL. And maybe, just maybe, reserve that vitriol for the other invisible enemy we all know so well- uva.
