Identity and recruiting
Lots of posts on recruiting with so and so going here and there. While we are never going to get (and never did for those thing this is a Fu bash) I wonder if “identity” is a factor?
Yes, you need OL and DL and 22 starters and all that, but really what is our identity?
Are we a shutdown D, lunch pail blue collar knock your head off team; DBU; power running game; balanced attack; spread; RPO w mobile qb - what is it?
I’m not so sure (purely speculation here) this isn’t a factor in our lean list of commits. Has to be an issue, doesn’t it?
You (and no one else) is going to convince me that Blacksburg is worse than a hell hole like Starkville Mississippi or Fayetteville Arkansas.
With the opportunity to come in and start - and star, if you are a certain position I just really can’t figure out why the drop off seems as it does. Maybe it is the folks who have left; bridges burned; uncertainty in our program. But I have to think identity is part of it.
What are we now? Still the lunch pail, NFL DB defense? I’m not sure.
Total honest question and no underlying motive - looking to figure out and trust the opinions I openly solicit.
