Unseld was my childhood sport idol. I grew up in Louisville and, as a kid, watched him win the State Tourney for the HS that later, I briefly went to (before moving away). I saw, in person, every home college game he ever played (yes, I know most folks on this Board hate UL, but those were simpler times - don't get me started on what they became). In college, Unseld didn't get double-doubles, he got 20-20's. For his career, he AVERAGED 19 rpg.

In the NBA, both on the court and off, he excelled through hard work and with great integrity. Basketball lost a great one.
