The one thing I remember from the Stanford game-
It wasn’t Andrew Luck’s 4 TDs. It was the relentless horde of the Stanford defense.
It was running up to the LOS, standing up, getting down, creating confusion against the VT offense. It’s been a while, but I think I remember thinking- whoa, Stanford is playing like the Hokies normally play. What’s happening here? And nothing happened, offensively at least. Controlled Chaos got the best of VT in that game. I have hoped to see that similar style of play from our defense.
That was the game. The beginning of the end. Gone within days were Hite and Cavanaugh, and Stinespring was demoted and replaced by- O’Cain - in play calling duties.
Hopefully VT’s next D will cause similar confusion and upheaval against all of the other ACC teams in the coming years as to cause that same chaos amongst their own coaching staffs!
