This is a crossraod year for me as a longtime fan

As a nearly 40 year fan/VT grad, 20 year Hokie club member/season ticket holder and 2 years from retirement, this year is a crossroads for me w/r to VT football. I have endured successive substandard seasons, excuses for young team all the while waiting for improved recruiting to backfill the program. I have continued to maintain or increase giving levels in hopes that it would help facilitate improvement on all fronts, (recruitment, infrastructure, coaches, etc.). Even now the recent reseating has a new twist that increases ticket price above the baseline charge. In other words I paid $1400 ($350/ea) in March for 4 season tickets, but come to find out, even though I maintained giving level my ticket price in the same location are $450/each (a $200 dollar balance due at reseating). I have not seen the promised improvements. We are increasingly being asked to invest more with no sustained improvement. This year, if we play at all, we at least better be competitive with PSU (a win would be better) and win at least 9 regular season games. This is my threshold, otherwise I will pull the plug and occasionally go to games, when possible. In the past, I pretty much planned everything else around the Sept-November timeframe to accommodate going to every home game and as many away games as possible. In the future with fixed income on the horizon and all uncertainty we have faced recently, I will no longer be compelled to make that sacrifice unless “this season gives me reason” to continue.
