The DI minimum number requirement is 16


7 men's sports + 7 women's sport + 2 sports for both genders

or

6 men's sports + 8 women's sports + 2 sports for both genders

VT currently sponsors 16 sports. Even if VT could double count a sport as both men's/women's and a sport for both genders so the minimum requirement is 14 sports, VT could only drop 2 sports and not drop below the DI minimum.
