University of Michigan President on ABC now - talking about reopening...
He essentially said that there was no guarantee of a vaccine, and that even if one is found, it will take months to administer to 300 million people. He went on to say that on-line learning is not as effective as classroom instruction, and in some cases is not possible.
In sum, he said they need to reopen and assume Covid will be with us for a long time. Test kids and try to keep them safe, but we cannot hide from this virus.
It took guts, but I'm glad a university president stepped up and said what everybody was thinking: life is full of risk and Covid is one of them, but there will not be a university anymore if we try to account for all risk.
