Look, recent history doesn’t mean as much as everyone here thinks. UNC is a national brand, regardless of the sport. Every kid in the country sees UNC gear around town. It’s everywhere. That helps with getting your foot in the door with most recruits nationally. They could not care less about them getting 6 wins vs our 9 the last 10 years.

You throw in a competent coach, in any sport, and UNC will have success. Their ceiling in football is much higher than ours. That’s every sport. We’re a football school, but they are still a flashier name for any recruit in the country. You may disagree, but that’s because of our VT bias.

We shouldn’t be surprised that they’re having this recruiting success with a hall of fame coach. Not sure what everyone expected. Our staff needs to figure out some way to keep up. Additionally, the actual on-field coaching may continue to suck there. (like Miami) who knows.

All I’m saying is, it’s not shocking they’re doing so well with recruiting. They’ve got a hall of fame coach, with a solid staff surround him. And UNC is one of the strongest national brands in the nation for college athletics, regardless of the sport.
