JB may be great or may not, but from a skills perspective and how he fits into Mike Young's system, it is 100% a fair question. It's been discussed that Nolley was playing out of position if he has goals of reaching the NBA. He was largely used at the 4 spot last year, where his pro potential would be as a SG or SF. JB may play closer to his true position and may better fit MY's system. It is a fair question to ask of a top 100 player coming into the program vs a top 100 player leave the program.
