Huge difference between 20 NBA teams in one place

And 353 NCAA teams on 353 college campuses

Travel to and from different campuses is the biggest risk to spreading the virus. Each college campus is home to thousands of students traveling from their thousand different hometowns/countries. College athletics (and college as a central campus in general) are a very bad idea.

The NBA has the best plan with one centralized location and strict quarantine rules. The MLB cant even make it out of the first weekend without multiple cancellations due to COVID-19 because teams travel.

High schools/middle schools/elementary schools can probably make a case for opening due to everyone being from the same general area, as long as you take measures to control their interactions.

The one hiccup to schools re-opening is...you guessed it...travel. School buses will be very difficult to social distance and keep clean.

College basketball isn't happening.

Nor should it.
