I think that was just used for simplicity sake. I agree with a lot of your

post except this conclusion you draw isn't a meaningful one "this group is 80 times more likely to die of something other than COVID19"... that's most likely true for any age group because you're taking a singular cause of death and comparing it to every other cause of death out there combined. It's like when people try to minimize the fatality rate of COVID19 by dividing C19 deaths by the total US population. It doesn't matter what cause of death you put there, the number is going to be extremely low.

Agree 100% on the concern for older coaches or ones with health problems. If Beamer was still our coach I'd be very worried for him (although I imagine he'd still want to play). And the point about position groups is one I was thinking about just yesterday. If you have a QB test positive, who are the players most likely to have been around him... the other QBs. So do you have to quarantine the whole QB room since they were in contact with an infected person and the virus can take up to 14 days to manifest? Do you test them more frequently and assume if they're negative they're good to go? I can just see complete groups of positions being required to sit out because of positive tests. What happens when a team has no available QBs (or any other position really)? Are they required to just figure it out? Is the game postponed? Cancelled? Forfeited? These are questions that have been around since this started and I still haven't seen any actual answers to them. If any conference is serious about trying to play it needs to put out some ground rules, guidelines, protocols, etc and it needs to do it yesterday b/c we're about out of time here.
