This is true. But it's also a market driven salary and in


VA at least, it's apples to oranges as prof salaries and coach salaries get paid from separate budgets. The university president and governor, General Assembly make salary and raise decisions for professors, etc...
If an academic can't live comfortably on $200K annually in Blacksburg there are other issues.
