Has our DL and LBs taken a step back this year?

DL - Our DTs seemed to be a pleasant surprise last year, but this year they have not impressed me. J. Reed had a great first game, but hasn't done much since. Barno does seem to be coming on.

LB - Ashby hasn't seemed as impressive as last year. Dax appears out of position a lot and disappears for long portions of the game.

DBs - I'll give them a pass since Farley ditched before the season, and have had so many COVID outages.

Tackling all-around has been terrible, especially against WF. When the opponent has a 3rd down (or 4th), it seems highly likely they will convert. I haven't looked at the stats, so maybe I'm way off with my observations. If I'm correct, is the poor D-line play due to the loss of Wile?. Has the loss of Foster effected the LB play? Is it too soon to worry about going cheap with the JHam hire? I'm trying to reserve judgement, but the D has not impressed.

Final question - will Hooker remain the starter for the rest of the year? He has been running great, but he missed a lot of throws against WF. I worry he gets tight when we need him the most (thinking about UVA game last year).
