I've been following VT football since I was a kid, around the 1982 or 1983 season in the height of the Bruce Smith era. I can't ever remember us being this un-competitive or disinterested. We had a couple rough seasons early in Beamer's tenure, but we still played with a fire in spite of being down several scholarships due to probation.

Even in the infamous 1992 season it seemed like we were very competitive in nearly every game, but just got outlasted in the 4th quarter. This is an entirely different and apathetic beast altogether.
