Some history for you

We have been here before, albeit under very different circumstances. Coach Frank Beamer was as loyal to his assistants as any that come. And not 5 years at the helm like Fuente but at 7 years at the helm, he had a "come to Jesus" meeting with Dave Braine. The wide tackle 6 defense had to go, certain assistants had to go. Either that happened or Frankie had to go.

I have long felt Corny has to go. This article is correct in that, yes, in 2016 the Hokies played well. And it followed up well in 2017. I questioned, during these times, if Whit should have ponied up the way he did to keep JF without just a little more evidence to justify the deal. Now, we are paying the price for that decision and I think the buyout preempts firing JF.

There is a huge difference between 1992 and now though. Frankie bled maroon and orange and no one ever questioned that. JF does not bleed marron and orange. We went from an independent to the Big East with Frankie, with JF we are already in the ACC, P-5 conference.

There is no excuse for pulling an Al Groh and not recruiting Virginia. Liberty, ODU, and Wake beat us with players we never offered. With Bronco not recruiting Virginia the door was wide open and JF shutting it is just plain crazy.

So, I say, Corny must go. If he goes with JF, so be it.
