You are comparing the 25 who matter with one that does not.


• Within the past 60 years, mens football and basketball appears to have moved from being a hybrid of collegiate competition and professional marketing to that of a way more professional marketer.
• Of the 115 or so teams playing Division 1, the overwhelming evidence is that only about
25-30 of them are relevant, past or present, to the national marketing plan of TV and the
NCAA.
VT is one of the 90 or so that are not in that number. Those you mentioned are.

Show me someone who isn't SEC, ND, Clemson, FSU, Miami, UNC, the top half of the Big 10 including PSU, Texas, Oklahoma and 3 or 4 from the Pac.

In other words show me someone who is where Vt is or even where we were that has risen above the glass ceiling. Those I mentioned are entirely different because they are already part of the national marketing plan and we could drop football tomorrow and wouldn't be a story as long as our current losing streak.
