1) Team was sanctioned by the NCAA with loss of scholarships.

2) governor Baliles threatened to end VT athletics.

3) We were an independent (not in any conference)

4) Inherited the toughest schedules, set up by Bill Dooley, in VT history.

5) We had no facilities to speak of and no legacy of winning in college football.

6) CFB was a shot in the dark no one wanted the job.

7) An apathetic fan base that was more likely than not to show up in another school’s colors than VT’s.

So you ask what Frank did in his 1st 5 years, he steadied the ship with a vision and then he brought us out of the wilderness.

FU had a bird nest on the ground compared to Frank and all he had to do was recruit. He has failed in every aspect of a college HC except running a clean program.

He gets my kudos for that.
