Shane....yet again

We've been talking about Shane non-stop and I recently posted when a fellow member asked my opinion, I don't know enough to fully commit but stated, I love his demeanor and his maturity with the media and I think that can help in recruiting... I think he can sell VT! I've come around to saying all aboard. Many former players at both USC-e and VT have supported him. Game day TV guys are supportive...not that they matter but its positive press, we need positive press. Kids see that gameday is covering us and saying how great Shane is, that might turn an eye. We have had alot of negative press for a few years. CJF got the whole 'transfer portal guys can't come back' in the news...it was completely out of context but we keep getting the bad end of coverage. Shane would bring buzz to a program, it's a media darling story..sure his name is partially why or mostly why, but who cares...good, maybe it helps in recruiting. It certainly can't hurt. He would likely hire good assistants with all of his connections at Georgia, Oklahoma USCe. There are a lot of people supportive and some have even said they would back the hire with $ I believe. How bad can it be? Are we 4-6 (assuming Clemson blow out) with losses to lesser programs and blown out by a mediocre Pitt with Shane? Well maybe, but staying the course just makes no sense, it is not working, we are the edge of irrelevant. Can recruiting drop below 70? I say no chance Shane can't get us 40 spots higher. He is a charismatic and a sharp guy who I believe could get some VA guys to stay home. I have no idea if we have the money. I have no idea if Shane wants to be here. He might already be a gamecock. I know I'm tired of watching this program not develop and not improve. If these former greats support his knowledge and enthusiasm who am I to doubt them and what they know about him behind the scenes? What are the negatives? I just don't know enough about his negatives except not being a coordinator, I don't care anymore. He has been around greatness for decades. I want a CEO who can motivate, excite, and make parents believe their kid is in good hands, he can. Maybe he's a great x and o guy, maybe not, but if he brings positive vibes, buzz, money and excitement, count me in. All that leads to a better on field product.
