Just don't expect anything to happen, even if it ends

on a losing season. One losing season generally won't get a coach fired at any school. When you add in Covid limitations that never went away all year, he would be pretty hard done by getting fired for it. I know there are those who act like you can only use the Covid "excuse" once or twice as if it was "dog ate my homework", but it never went away for VT football.
My daughter is a UVA grad and she has said that UVA did some very extreme things to monitor and control Covid, including measuring the virus in the sewage coming from the individual dorms. I don't think any VT athletes were kept in a bubble like the UVA players were this season, but again, that wouldn't be Fuente's call. VT was much looser with the student population and so athletes were constantly being exposed and quarantined, regardless if they had the virus. Tough deal all around and I think that Whit is more than aware of all the issues being dealt with by Fuente.
Finally, according to Fuente, he has been heavily recruiting in the portal so VT recruiting might not be the barren land that it appears to be.
