The silent killer for VT...

Shot selection

Being down most of the game caused a panic that meant VT shot 30 three-pointers. But there are more than a few that just arent good shots. When they get down, theres a lot of standing and watching offensively (that, again, happens with a young team). This leads to contested looks away from the rim late in the clock.

Some of that will be inevitable. Youre not going to play well every possession. But that means you cant have Justyn Mutts shooting early clock 3s, even if he is banking them in. Mutts' two makes made him take a couple more that werent good looks. I'd almost rather he misses his first look so he tries to attack rather than float around the perimeter where he is, at best, half as effective.

Bede cant play that many minutes when the Hokies are down. The other team is able to clog the lane with an extra defender, and so having Bede on the floor essentially takes away himself, Radford and part of Alleyne.

Louisville, rightfully so, were more than ok letting Mutts, Radford and Bede shoot a ton of 3s, and they played right into it.

You wouldnt have Cone out there when you need a stop, so you shouldnt have Bede out there when you need to spread the floor.
