Cone’s offensive rating is 126.1, second on the team only behind Cattoor, who is at 137.8. Cone averages 26.7 points per 40 minutes. That’s the highest mark not only on this Virginia Tech team, but in the entire ACC. (I’m getting these numbers from RealGM.com, by the way.) When his three-point shot is falling, it’s really difficult to take him off the court, and his pure shooting ability can get the Hokies back in a game in a hurry, as we saw last night against Louisville. Cone is a shooting guard, and to play him at the point guard position would be limiting his greatest strength as a basketball player: shooting the rock as much as possible.

I think the question being asked before the season was whether Cartier Diarra, or even Cone, should be the starting point guard instead of Wabissa Bede. As it has turned out, the proper question should be “should Hunter Cattoor be the starting point guard instead of Wabissa Bede?”
