I went to Martinsville. That high school produced some

really really good football and basketball teams over the years, Baseball too.. Lou Whittaker (Detroit Tigers 2nd baseman) went there. My senior year we had a guy named "Nugget" Hairston who was 6'5" and 265 lbs. playing D Tackle and coaches used him at Fullback inside the 5 yard line. He was unstoppable. He was one class ahead of Ricky Scales, who was one of Don Strock's favorite targets in Don's senior season..Ricky still holds a few VT Wide Receiver records if I'm not mistaken. "Nugget" ended up playing for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns. I think he was in the league for 10 years
