A lot of players are sloppy with footwork, and do this...

Heard Jay Bilas point this out during another game, recently.

Years ago, I caught Bobby Knight talking about Tyler Hansbrough (playing for UNC) on TV. Knight, being a basketball purest, pointed out how he walked "every time" he made a post move. Even more interesting was the description of how much of an advantage he got from doing that.

He was mostly critical of refs allowing "sloppy fundamentals." Seemed his point was "call the game exactly per the rules - players will adjust and not be sloppy."

Don't get me started about palming the ball.
