Current staff believes with the flexibility with the transfers and kids leaving early, and new freedom of players for financial rights, its better to shop the portal transfer route for a team like vt than 'invest in the communities to get players.

That could work on 'private schools' but its just not the culture for land grants.

I think the resources need to be expended for staffing and outreach more in the DC/ 757 market. Our competitions have their 'rep's imbedded in the neighborhoods. We just fly in..... (I dont know if the staff is comfortable recruiting in a more metropolitan/urban environment than 50 miles within blacksburg). However the reality is 70 percent of the state population live from northern va through richmond ot hampton roads.
