Good article. Here is the core problem with the ACC's TV deals...
In VT's primary media/alumni markets, most Hokie fans get their TV from one of three sources: Verizon, Comcast, or streaming.
The two primary outlets for ACC men's basketball games are ACCN and RSNs (usually MASN).
ACCN games are available for Verizon and streaming services, but not for Comcast.
RSN games are available for Comcast and Verizon subscribers, but not for streamers.
I don't know what the customer % breakdown is for each of those TV providers, but assuming it's roughly equal (a big assumption, I know) that means that for any given game, roughly 1/3 of the potential audience can't watch. That's just not a good marketing strategy.
