Reading the text exchanges between Tunsil and coaches makes me sad...
That really smacks you in the face with the reality of what college athletics have become. While I don't necessarily see a moral issue with helping the impoverished mother of a player to cover her living expenses, the NCAA's smokescreen that college athletics are still about students playing sports, rather than about money, leads to these underground "bag men" scenarios and covert meetings with $50 handshakes. It all just seems incredibly shady. I would take much less of an issue with this stuff if it was just all done out in the open instead of behind closed doors.
