They did address donors in that situation at our meeting

They said they would let them continue to pay off the major gift according to their contract and any payments made would count towards their seat fee total, but once their contract is paid, they would have to go into the annual donor format that everyone else is in.

So, not much.

Obviously the major gift donors are the folks that have the biggest beef in this change. Once the level is reached, either they don't want to give more than the $500/year or they'd prefer it to be their option to give more. It sucks, but I don't think there will be any other solution from the Hokie Club/Athletic Dept (let's not put it all on the HC - the decision wasn't just made by them). I think they did an overall cost/benefit look at what would happen, expect to lose some folks in the short term, but hope to move forward with a stable and industry current donor model (and just take their loses in the short term).

I, like many on here, hope that they haven't overplayed their hand on this. I can easily envision a bunch of empty seats in the high priced areas. Hopefully it won't stay like that for long. Or maybe I'm wrong and other's will grab them up. I guess you'll be able to grab 4 primo seats for an annual donation of $3,200. That's just above the old Gold Hokie level. I know plenty of Gold Hokies that's pay an extra $700/year to have those seats.
