Oh PLEASE! This is full of so much bunk it is nauseating. Buzz was chased out of Marquette, just ahead of an impending coaching enema to appease the school's basketball team's boosters and alumni. This nonsense about his move to VT being some kind of mysetry, much less a brave move, is manure. VT was desperate, and this clown in pink could not do better -- and almost any gig in the vaunted ACC is attractive. Not to mention, they grossly overpay the guy. Just a matter of time before one of two things happen: he brokers short-term success and visibility at VT to take on another job elsewhere (after all, he was already shopping himself last post-season); or, a scandal emerges. This "blue collar" persona sells in Sleepy Holler (aka Blacksburg) but seriously, man, real men don't wear pink shoes, pink shirts, and act like a manic freak on the sidelines. Buzz Lightweight is eons away from competing, for real, in the talent-laden ACC, and he knows it. Maybe some of his kids don't. Will they turn that barn they play into a Little House of Horrors? Sure. They'll pul their share of major upsets. They are just good enough to do that. Vie for the top tier of the ACC? Not hardly -- no better than 6th or 7th. An NCAA berth? Maybe, but only because they hand out berths to the Power 5 like it were candy. But could this be the high point of their season, beating a Michigan team that isn't all that? Probably. We don't call him Buzz Lightweight for no reason. He is. Just as he is an easy story. It's another of Eisenberg's shallow personality pieces with no substance. There is no "there" there, no superior coaching ability much less basketball acumen. Doesn't need to be. Basketball isn't a primary sport a football-only school. Something Greenberg found out. Eventually, the Hokie faithless will turn on Buzz, too. In the meantime, VT BBall remains largely irrelevant... not unlike UVA football.
