Two different scenarios for the question though. First thing to consider is the projected NFL draft position for the players in question. How far down the draft is acceptable to make this decision?

Second thing to consider is how far through the season should the players making this decision decide be "fair" for all parties involved? If your team has suffered a couple of losses and is out of the championship picture, should the player then shut down his career early to protect themselves from possible injury to protect the future draft position?
