The uva medical center has once again been fined by the feds for their less than acceptable rate of hospital-acquired infections. In other words, they don't pay attention to not infecting otherwise healthy patients who go there for surgeries/treatments. Clostridium difficile, which is a serious, possibly fatal infection, is running at a high level in cville. The fine THIS YEAR is only $1.8 million. For me, that is one hospital/medical training center that I won't go to on a bet. And it is a bet - your life.
