Our performance without him will be key.
Basically, we were given 6 games plus the ACCT to prove how good we can be without Clarke. By the time the committee decides, they will use our performance over that time and have a pretty good idea the impact of the Clarke Injury good or bad. This isn't saying that our prior quality wins become meaningless, but that to reinforce them, we can't go into a slide the rest of the way. That's why last night's win was so big- prove that we can still win, win on the road, and do so without Clarke.
If Clarke's injury had happened later, say during the ACCT, they would absolutely look at the potential impact and whether anyone here agrees with it or not, it would affect our seeding and/or keeping us out. Cincinnati lost the No. 1 seed in 99 based on Kenyon Martin breaking his leg in the CUSA tourney that year.
