Re: LeDay and Seth Allen

I was born and raised in Portsmouth, VA (which is a blue collar town on the coast, near Norfolk). Portsmouth is definitely a blue collar town, dominated by the Naval Shipyard.
My wife bumped into Seth the other day in the grocery store, told him how much she and I enjoyed watching him play the last couple of years, and wished him luck. My wife mentioned the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT), which is an annual basketball tourney held at Churchland HS, and attended by scouts from all the NBA teams and teams overseas.
Over the years, these are just some of the players I've seen play in the PIT (John Stockton, Jimmy Walker, Earl the Pearl, Dennis Rodman, Zabian Dowdell, Jamon Gordon, Carlos Dixon, ad infinitum). I've also seen some NBA icons scouting for prospects there (Red Auerbach, Jerry West, Dennis Johnson, Larry Bird, etc.). I still find it hard to believe that my hardscrabble hometown has such a thing.
Seth said he was playing in the Tourney this year. So, on a lark, I googled the 2017 PIT, and read that Zach LeDay is also playing. The PIT showcases college seniors (Division I, II, III) and NAIA who hope to play the professionally. Believe me, the talent in the PIT is unbelievable, and the games are refereed like the pros.
As my son says, "If you drive the lane in the PIT, you better be a man." Players come in from all over the country. If you want more info, google it and read some of the history. Hope my fellow Hokies in Tidewater attend and support Seth and Zach.
