Miami's counter argument would be that VT can only blame

itself for being saddled with BC. If VT had not forced its way into the ACC in 2004 and allowed Syracuse to join, then BC would have been paired with Syracuse. It would have also meant that when VT joined the ACC in 2013, then it could have been placed in the Atlantic and paired with UVA. Then again it is also possible VT would be a member of the SEC right now.
