A couple clarifications from my point of view. The FL coach did not tell him he wouldn't start anymore. He said he wouldn't guarantee that he would start if he came back.

I'm not sure if WVU "rolled the dice" on Grier. IIRC Holgs said early on that there was NCAA precedent on his situation and WVU was confident his situation would be treated similarly. I guess you could say WVU took a chance but it's not like rolling dice where the outcome is entirely random. Maybe I'm arguing semantics.

I don't think anyone other than Grier knows how much attention he got.
