I had forgotten about the Pumas and Tigres.

When I wrote the post I was thinking about 3 Chilean football clubs; Universidad Católica, Universidad de Chile, and Universidad de Concepción. All 3 were originally affiliated with their respective universities before spinning off into their own private entity. Even though the football clubs retained the school's names, I don't believe the universities have any ownership in the clubs. Peru has 3 other football clubs with university names; Universidad San Martín, Universidad Técnica de Cajamarca, and Universitario. I believe all 3 have similar history to the 3 Chilean clubs.

In terms of Europe, Northampton FC's primary sponsor is the University of Northampton. It is the only European club that I know is sponsored by a university. I did forget about BYU's men's soccer which currently participates in a lower tier soccer league in the US instead of the NCAA. I believe it is Tier 3 which would be considered semi-pro by US standards.

In terms of rugby, the Highlanders (primary sponsor is the University of Otago) and the Brumbies (secondary sponsor is the University of Canberra) are the only 2 that come to mind.
