I didn't renew my tix - I'd had them since 2001.

Reasons:
1. Costs rise each year
2. Until this year - most home games in September, and/or at noon. I live at SML, and leaving house at 7am to set up tailgate and getting home after a full day wore me out w 2 kids.
3. I have as much or more fun hosting away game parties on my deck w tailgate experience, my food, my drinks, and sitting with my friends, watching the game in HD w full sound overlooking the lake.
4. My 10 yr old daughter was born w bilateral cataracts and has vision issues. When the seats kept getting reshuffled, I realized this past year that she couldn't see the games as well and grew frustrated. I called the ticket office before the season order deadline 3 times and left messages on what to do about "special" seating. These calls weren't answered or responded to. I was very put off by this so I decided we will attend ONE good game each year with great seats via Stubhub, w a great tailgate.
5. I'm a VMI grad, and can attend more VMI games this year w my alum buds when i couldn't in the past due to my obligation/VT seats. I will also enjoy more VT home games on my deck with friends, as we do those away games.

I think the HDTV experience as well as the costs/time of a full day/weekend at the games will affect attendance in the long run everywhere - as Will and Chris have documented many times in the past in articles.

GO HOKIES!!
