I (a Hoo here) came by earlier to see what y'all had to say about Vick and

his Hall of Fame induction. I had nothing to say then because your discussion was pretty thorough, breaking down mostly along the lines of a Pete Rose analysis (to what extent should a misdeed color an athlete's career). It appears, judging by today's article (by Aaron McFarling) I've linked below, that some are not willing to let up, let alone let it go.

I'm an animal lover. I've rescued dozens of stray dogs and cats in my 60 years here. If I had a do-over, I'd re-cast myself as a veterinarian. I raise that as a semaphore to signal that I have no sympathy for abusing any helpless critter.

But I'm also human and, like most humans, in need of a little redemption from time to time. Which makes it awkward for me to deny that possibility to Vick.

If you do nothing else, consider reading this article:
http://www.espn.com/new-york/columns/nfl/story/_/id/10718643/has-new-york-jets-qb-michael-vick-punished-enough. There is no dispute that Vick has done quite a bit in behalf of dogs.

Is the remorse suggested by Vick's animal advocacy genuine? It would be easy to call it self-serving and therefore probably fake, but he's been at it for a while despite the fact that any connection he has with dogs will resurrect more criticism.

I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt. And hope for his redemption.
