I don't think any of VT's DTs are big enough to play NT in a 3-4

Historically speaking the 3-4 is more vulnerable against the run because you have 1 less DL to fill the gaps, but is better against defending the pass because you have 1 extra LB to cover space/passing lanes. In order for the 3-4 work (especially against the run), a team needs a NT (I am going to say at least 320lbs) that can take on double teams or triple teams and basically fill up to allow the 2 ILBs to roam and make the tackles. Looking a the roster, do you think VT has any DTs that could do it on a regular basis?

Don't get wrong, I like your thinking and understand why you came up with the idea. It isn't always easy for a college team to switch from a base 4-3 or base 4-2 to a base 3-4.
